The beauty and interaction of colour and shapes in nature inspire me to paint. My style in painting can vary from delicate translucent watercolours, to free style ink drawings and bolder, yet fresh acrylics.
Colour is exciting and one of the most important aspects of painting. It can be wonderful to explore the way colour interacts on paper or canvas, creating a feeling of wellbeing. Equally, when a piece of colourful art is placed in an interior environment, the surrounding space can be transformed.
My career as a Printed Textile Designer in industry has been a strong influence on my work and I often see my paintings emerge with a decorative and colourful element to them. I enjoy working to commission and teaching classes and workshops for adults in venues ranging from gardens to cruise liners. My camera and sketchbook are always to hand wherever I go!
I also contribute articles to the UK’s Leisure Painter magazine and have written several successful books on flower painting in watercolour, published by Search Press.
