The Atlas Mountains in Watercolour

Julie will demonstrate how to interpret this early morning scene overlooking the Atlas mountains.
Capture the valleys and ridges creating light and shade

You will learn how to:-
*Interpret the snow covered mountain with a dry brush stroke.
*Use wet on wet techniques to suggest the shadow and ridges in the lower foothills.
*Wet on dry and softening technique.
*Mix colours with a limited palette to unify the painting.

You will need

Watercolours:

Winsor & Newton Artists watercolours

Transparent yellow

Raw sienna or Yellow ochre

Burnt sienna

Permanent rose

Winsor blue (green shade)

Ultramarine blue

Payne's grey

Brushes:
Size 4,6,8 and 10 round

B pencil

Pebeo masking fluid and sharpened bamboo or feather tip

Watercolour Paper:

Fabriano Artistico watercolour paper 140LB cold pressed

Size of painting 32.5 x 22 cms
