The Red Cliffs

Julie will demonstrate how to approach this North Norfolk coastal scene depicting rich Carr stone and red and white chalk cliffs, using a variety of techniques to include masking out, lifting colour, dry brush stroke and negative painting.

You will need

Watercolours:

Ultramarine blue

Winsor blue (green shade)

Raw Sienna or Yellow ochre

Transparent yellow

Burnt sienna

Scarlet lake

B pencil

Paper towel

Masking tape

Masking fluid and applicator- bamboo, tip of feather or fine old brush

Old toothbrush and paper clip

Thin strips of plastic card

140lb NOT watercolour paper approx size 37 x26 cms

 

Brushes:
Size 4,6,8,10 round

Watercolour paper:
140lb NOT (a slight texture) approx size 37x 26 cms
